Dr. Roza Pati Participates in the 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report Launch Ceremony

On Thursday, June 15th, 2023, invited by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken, Dr. Roza Pati, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, participated in the release of the 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report, at the State Department in Washington D.C. She was also invited to participate in the interactive panel discussion with the Ambassador-at-Large to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, Ms. Cindy Dyer, a human rights advocate and lawyer, who leads the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons worldwide.

Additionally, on Friday, May 12th, 2023, Dr. Roza Pati and our John J. Brunetti Human Trafficking Academy were mentioned by survivors of human trafficking, The Honorable Robert Lung, District Court Judge in the 18th Judicial District of Colorado, and The Honorable Bella Hounakey, member of the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, in their testimony before U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee. The subcommittee meeting on Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations on the implementation of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, inter alia, focused on the importance that faith-based institutions, such as St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law, give to the cooperation with, and empowerment of, human trafficking survivors leadership.
