Harold D’Souza is a globally recognized advocate in the fight against labor trafficking and a powerful voice for survivors. A former victim of labor trafficking and debt bondage in the United States, he has transformed his journey into a mission of empowerment, awareness, and policy change.

In 2023, the United Nations honored Harold with the prestigious Human Rights Hero Award, recognizing his tireless efforts to combat modern-day slavery. That same year, he was also named a Human Rights Trailblazer, celebrating his exceptional leadership and dedication to survivor advocacy.

As the co-founder of Eyes Open International, Harold spearheads prevention efforts through survivor-informed research and education. He has served on the United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, appointed by President Barack Obama in 2015 and continuing under President Trump through 2020. Additionally, he is an expert consultant to the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons.

Harold has delivered impactful speeches at institutions like Harvard University and the United Nations, sharing insights on protecting vulnerable populations. His activism has earned him numerous accolades, including the Liberator Award, the iCAN Award, and the Heart of the Father Award.

His story is also shared in his book “Frog in a Well: Turning obstacles to opportunities,” as well as in the upcoming documentary To Be Free and a biopic currently in production. His core message remains unwavering: Be Happy, Think Positive, Never Quit, and Believe in Yourself.
