Steven L. Procopio, ACSW, LICSW

Steven Procopio is a trainer, consultant, and therapist specializing in working with males who have a history of trauma. His expertise includes childhood sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking, other forms of sexual victimization, and extensive experience with homelessness and runaway youth.

Steven is a trainer and consultant with the National Human Trafficking Training and Consulting Center.

Mr. Procopio founded the first freestanding program in the United States dedicated to serving commercially sexually exploited and human-trafficked boys and adolescent males.

He is a member of the United Nations Global Human Trafficking Task Force, where he represents the needs of male victims and survivors of human trafficking internationally, and serves as a survivor consultant with UNITAS North America. He is also a member of the Ottawa, Canada Coalition to End Human Trafficking.

Steven has taught and presented on the issues of male victimization at both local and international levels, and consults with various groups on the effects of male childhood sexual abuse and commercial sexual exploitation/human trafficking.

He was recently awarded the Liberator of the Year Award by U.S. human trafficking organizations for his years of service to the male human trafficking community.
Steven is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Social Work.
