Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, Clearwater

Born in Cuba and raised in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abdel Dana Roca earned a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Jordan School of Law. He began his career as an attorney in Jordan, focusing on human rights and legal advocacy—an experience that shaped his lifelong commitment to justice and protection.

His dedication and performance early in his humanitarian career led UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) leadership to deploy him to the Jordan–Syria border, where he led a team providing urgent international protection to families fleeing persecution by ISIS. He later served in multiple global duty stations with UNHCR in roles including Registration Officer, Resettlement Officer, and Lead of the Protection Transfer Arrangement Program in Central America.

Abdel Dana Roca currently serves as Director of Refugee Integration Services at Gulf Coast JFCS, leading programs across Greater Tampa Bay, North Port, Sarasota, and Miami. He oversees a diverse, multilingual team that delivers comprehensive services in financial assistance, wellness, employment and career development, and intensive case management to help newcomers rebuild their lives and achieve long-term stability.

In 2023, he spearheaded support for Afghan evacuees through Operation Allies Welcome and Ukrainian refugees through United for Ukraine. In Fiscal Year 2025, his department empowered over 1,850 individuals from more than 16 nationalities across all life streams, helping them become active, contributing members of their communities and build meaningful lives in the U.S.
