Randolph P. McGrorty, Esq.

Executive Director
Catholic Legal Services, Archdiocese of Miami

Randolph P. McGrorty serves as Executive Director of Catholic Legal Services, Archdiocese of Miami (CLS). He co-founded the agency in 1994 and has directed it since. He supervises a staff of 100, including 42 staff attorneys and 6 accredited representatives.

Nearly three thousand people seek the services of CLS each month. They include individuals seeking to reunite with their families; political and religious refugees seeking safety and security, many of whom have survived persecution and torture; battered spouses and their children; and long-term residents with significant family and community ties who face deportation.

CLS maintains a strong relationship with South Florida’s Haitian community, a traditionally under-served population. The agency ranks among the largest providers of immigration services to the Haitian migrant community in the country. It has earned national recognition for the quality of its services and the scope of its advocacy.

McGrorty graduated from Harvard magna cum laude and received his J.D. and M.S.S.W. from the University of Wisconsin. He studied at the Oxford University summer program in Refugee Studies. He speaks frequently on asylum processing, Cuban/Haitian Entrant issues, and immigration law.

His awards include the Adalsinda Lomangino Award, the Saint Vincent De Paul Award, and the Primum Regnum Dei Award from the Archdiocese of Miami, the Community Advocacy Award from Legal Aid of Broward County, the Keeper of the Dream Leadership Award, the Humanitarian Service Award from the Center for Migration Studies, the “Lex Christi, Lex Amoris” Award from the Thomas More Society, and the Chesed Award from Jewish Community Services. The City of Miami and Miami-Dade County have both issued proclamations recognizing his work on behalf of the immigrant and refugee communities of South Florida.
