Rafael Campiz

President, Rotary Club of Albany
Board Member, Albany Rotary Foundation
Vice President of Business Development, SeeMedX

Rafael Campiz is a human trafficking survivor whose experience navigating the aftermath of labor trafficking provided direct exposure to how institutional systems identify, classify, and respond to exploitation. His story was featured by Polaris, highlighting the gap between prevailing public narratives of trafficking and its operational reality.

Through sustained engagement with service providers, legal frameworks, and financial institutions, Rafael developed a practical understanding of how language, definitions, and procedural design shape survivor outcomes. His experience illustrates how misalignment between lived reality and institutional models can delay recognition and effective response.

Rafael has supported advocacy efforts in New York State to advance legislation preventing financial institutions from pursuing coerced debt against trafficking survivors. He currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Albany, as Board Member of the Albany Rotary Foundation and as Vice President of Business Development at SeeMedX. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Wells College.
