Maribel Rodrigues Ferreira is the Program Coordinator for The John J. Brunetti Human Trafficking Academy at St. Thomas University Benjamin L. Crump College of Law. A dedicated human rights advocate with a strong background in public administration, legal practice, and program management, she is committed to advancing human dignity and empowering communities to overcome systemic challenges.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Maribel brings a global perspective to her work. Prior to her current role, she led Lisbon’s award-winning Lisboa Empreende+ program, where she supported over 2,000 entrepreneurs, including a significant number of migrants, helped launch more than 200 businesses, and secured substantial investments to drive sustainable economic development.

Maribel holds an LL.M. in Intercultural Human Rights, summa cum laude, from St. Thomas University, a master’s degree in European Law and Studies, and a law degree from Lisbon State University. Her passion for cross-cultural collaboration and strategic program design informs her work in the fight against human trafficking.
